As the year draws to a close, and our U.S. friends celebrate Thanksgiving, we thought it would be an appropriate time to reflect on the things, both little and large, that we’re grateful for this year.

1. The Pitons In the hotel biz, as in real estate, it’s all about location. And our two resorts, both within the shadow of St. Lucia’s twin volcanic domes, the Pitons, are fortunate to share one of the best spots in the Caribbean. Whether they’re illuminated with sunshine; crowned with mist; or glistening with tropical rain, the sight of these majestic silent sentinels never gets old.

2. Chocolate We know we’re not the only ones who have a taste for life’s sweetest gift. But we’re the only resorts on St. Lucia fortunate to have more than a thousand cocoa trees on our plantation at nearby Emerald Farm, so we can indulge with abandon. You can, too, at our complimentary chocolate tastings and in our twice-weekly Chocolate Lab classes. And once you’ve tasted the organic ambrosia that comes from our acreage, you’ll understand exactly why we’re so grateful.

3. The Caribbean “There’s no place like home,” the saying goes, and we absolutely agree. Where else has our unique combination of postcard-perfect natural beauty; vivacious and welcoming people; and diverse culture and heritage like the place than our special corner of the earth? We couldn’t be prouder to say “we live where you vacation.”

4. Sunrises and Sunsets It’s amazing, isn’t it, how the beauty of dawn and dusk never fail to enchant us, now matter how many times we witness them? Whether we’re watching the sun rise above Jade Mountain’s infinity pools or slowly sink into the Caribbean from the beach at Anse Chastanet, we’re always impressed with nature’s daily spectacle – and so grateful to be in this particular place to see it.

5. Our Health We always encourage our guests to get out and explore the resort and our island. But we recognize that it would be impossible if we weren’t hale and hearty. So we’re especially thankful for our bodies, which, even though they might not be in model shape, are fit and strong enough to bike through the foliage at Anse Mamin; to dive and snorkel amid the reefs just offshore; and to climb (however slowly!) our beloved Gros Piton.

6. Our Island Excuse us if we’re biased, but we think St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean with some of the warmest, most welcoming people you’ll ever meet.

7. You The only thing we enjoy more than any of the half-dozen things we mentioned is introducing our guests to them. As much pleasure as we receive living amid this beauty and in the company of our gracious team, it’s nothing compared to the satisfaction of sharing our country, our home and our family with you. It’s an honor and a privilege. And we couldn’t be more grateful for it.

Happy Thanksgiving, from all of us at Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet.
