jademountain-stlucia-chocolate_lab8We feel you: You’ve come to St. Lucia to soak up the sun. But, as the saying goes, into every life a little rain must fall. (And, let’s face it, our island wouldn’t be as gloriously lush if we weren’t blessed with regular doses of “liquid sunshine.”) But just because it’s raining doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Here are five fun diversions you can enjoy, weather or not.

Shop ‘Til You Drop
When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping (or at least that’s what we believe). And you don’t have to go far to get your shop on, with a total of three boutiques between both resorts. While the wind blows you’ll be browsing must-have merch including local handicraft, designer beachwear, and, of course, Emerald Estate’s artisanal chocolate. Taking refuge in retail? Now that’s an idea we can get behind!

Get Arty
img_1084We’ve been presenting the work of some of St. Lucia’s finest artists in our beachfront gallery for more than 25 years. And when the sun’s gone away it’s the perfect opportunity to check out their original watercolors and acrylics; sculpture; woodwork; and ceramics. It might not be sunny outside but you can always buy a sunny scene and pretend, right?!

Head To Bed
Truthfully, we can’t blame you if you decide to retreat to your room at the first drop of rain. The suites at both our resorts are designed to blur the boundary between inside and out, so where better to watch the weather than from the comfort of your four-poster bed? Fire up the ceiling fan, slip between the sheets and we’ll leave the rest to you …

It would be rude to come to St. Lucia and not sample our rum at least once, don’t you think? Our island produces more than 70 types of rum, and our bar manager Innocent will be happy to introduce you to more than a few of them during his weekly tastings. And since the 45-minute sessions take place in Anse Chastanet’s beachfront Trou Au Diable bar, you’ll be protected from the elements as you enjoy a front-row view of the storm’s majesty with your taste of St. Lucia.

Work It Out
OK, this may be a bit of a hard sell but hear us out: Sure you can exercise when you get home, but where else but Jade Mountain or Anse Chastanet are you going to be able to hit your target heart rate while you gaze at the gorgeous green slopes of the Pitons through floor-to-ceiling windows? Make a quick dash to our air-conditioned gym for a workout with a side of Mother Nature’s wonder, and you’ll find that the time goes
way faster than it does at home.
